Why the Best Leaders Use Content to Spark Conversations, Not Just Impressions

Content Isn’t King, QUALITY CONTENT IS QUEEN

You ever sit down to watch something on Netflix and spend more time scrolling than actually watching? Yeah, that’s exactly what content feels like right now. Too many options. Too much noise. And the more we scroll, the less we actually care. We don’t act, we check out.

People aren’t short on content, they’re short on clarity. They’re overloaded, distracted, and numb to anything that doesn’t spark connection or value. So if your content isn’t creating movement, it’s just background noise. Let’s shift that.

Influence Without Action Is Just Noise

I’m not here to be some influencer chasing likes. That’s not the goal. Vanity metrics don’t pay the bills. And they definitely don’t build trust. What I do care about, and what we do every day at StandOut Authority, is helping you build a presence that actually moves people. Not just to think, but to do something.

Because here’s the truth: if your content isn’t sparking action, it’s just noise with better lighting. Algorithms are evolving. Audiences are sharper. People can sniff out fluff from a mile away. So if you’re not showing up with real value? They’re not showing up for you. Simple as that. You don’t need to post more; you need to post better.

Real Content With Real Purpose.

Here’s what I see working right now with top leaders and creators on LinkedIn and what we teach and practice ourselves:

🔵 Stop Posting Just to Post

If you’re pushing out content just to stay “visible,” you’re wasting time. A Forbes article confirms it: personalization is key. Quality content, created for the right audience, cuts through. Less volume. More meaning.

🔵 Create Conversations That Move People

Content that makes people think is good. Content that makes people act is better. When I started asking questions in my posts that hit a nerve, like, “What’s the hardest leadership lesson you’ve learned?” my inbox lit up. Not because I was pushing. But because I was connecting.

🔵 Quality > Quantity

A Gartner report shows consumers are actively pulling back from platforms due to declining content quality. This is your opportunity. Don’t try to be everywhere. Be effective where it counts.

🔵 Double Down on Human Connection

Algorithms shift. People stay. The real strategy? Get human. Comment meaningfully. DM with intent. Show up in other people’s worlds before you ask them to enter yours. That’s how influence is built.

And let’s not ignore the facts. If you’re in the B2B space, LinkedIn is the arena. About 40% of B2B marketers say LinkedIn is their most effective lead gen channel, because the platform gives you direct access to decision-makers, high-quality buyers, and partners who are already in a business mindset.

But here’s the catch: showing up just to post isn’t what works. Showing up with clarity, consistency, and real human value? That’s what gets you seen, and remembered.

Your Personal Brand > Company Logo

People don’t want to connect with companies. They want to connect with you. Your story. Your voice. Your values. Your content doesn’t need to be “perfect.” It needs to be personal and purpose-driven. Here’s what backs it all up, media content is one of the biggest trust signals for consumers today. That’s not just me talking. That’s straight from the latest Salsify Consumer Trust Report. People aren’t just watching what you post, they’re deciding if they trust you because of it.

So I’ll ask you this, if your content were a product, would your audience buy it?

Salsify 2025 Consumer Research Report about consumer trust proves to me that digital media is where MOST of the connection between people, brands, and audiences happens.

Forget Playing the Game; Start Owning Your Space

You don’t stand out online by shouting the loudest or posting the most. You do it by showing up with purpose. It’s not about being everywhere; it’s about being remembered for something that matters. I like to keep things real, simple, and actionable. So here are 3 ways I consistently show up with intention, and how you can too.

✅ Play the 5x Rule

Want people to notice you? Start paying attention to them first. Comment thoughtfully on five posts before you even think about posting your own. The more you show up for others the more they will show up for you. It’s basically like an unspoken digital pledge.

✅ Post With Purpose

Your next post shouldn’t be fluff. No generic “Motivational Monday” quotes. Instead, share something real. A bold opinion. A lesson that shaped you. Something that happened that taught you a valuable life or business lesson. According to Simon Simek (an entrepreneur I highly admire), to hook your audience in 30 seconds or less, it’s important to include storytelling in your content. The story gives your content purpose, which your audience will find reassuring.

Here’s what’s wild: 77% of marketers say LinkedIn gives them the best organic results out of any platform. Not TikTok. Not Insta. Not SEO wizardry that takes six months to maybe work. Just showing up with real content on the platform where people actually come to think, lead, and make business happen. But let’s be clear: those results don’t come from surface-level posts.

They come from knowing your audience, speaking their language, and showing up consistently with content that hits.

✅ Lead By Example

Want better engagement? Don’t beg for it. Create it. Meaningful conversations start, not with a “please engage,” but with your willingness to show up consistently. I see this in my own team, when I show up authentically, my team becomes more active on the same platforms. So you’re not just influencing your audience; you’re sharing your entire network.

Your Next Post Is a Moment, Make It Count

Content isn’t just a marketing play. It’s your leadership in public. If you’re showing up with real intent, building relationships, and focusing on value, not volume, you’re already doing more than most.

What’s one small shift you can make this week to create an actual connection, not just another post in the feed? Because, let’s be real, the internet isn’t starving for more content. But it is starving for more people who show up with something real to say.
