Lead With Your Voice, Not The Algorithm's. Here's How to Stand Out

AI Can’t Fake Trust and Your Audience Knows It

Why Real Leaders Still Win in the Age of Automation

Look, I love AI. You know that. I’ve been playing with it since before most people knew what a prompt was. But here’s the thing no one’s saying out loud… If you’re outsourcing your voice to AI, you’re already losing. Because leadership? Influence? Trust? That still needs a human behind the curtain. It’s not just about showing up online. It’s about how you show up. And too many smart, powerful people are fading into the noise right now, posting “good enough” content made by machines, crossing their fingers, and wondering why no one’s engaging anymore.

Let me make it plain: AI is a tool. YOU are the message.

Automation Isn’t the Enemy, but Absence Is

We’re living in a wild time. Content is everywhere. AI can write blog posts, generate videos, even clone your voice (ask me how I know 😉). But here’s the truth most people won’t tell you: If you’re not intentionally leading with your values, your vision, and your actual VOICE … AI will start to do it for you. And not in a good way.

Your audience doesn’t want polish. They want presence. They want real. They want YOU. According to a Forbes article, “The key is to use AI to enhance, not replace, your brand’s voice”.  And I know how tempting it is to plug your stuff into a tool and let it do the heavy lifting. I’ve done it. I’ve experimented with it. But the content that hits hardest? It’s still the unscripted, straight-from-the-heart stuff I film in my car between school pickup or walking the dogs and baby.

Because trust isn’t built by bots. It’s built by leaders who show up, even when they don’t have a script.

So, How Do You Stay Human in a High-Tech World?

Here’s what we teach at StandOut Authority, and what Rachel and I practice every single day with our clients, our team, and yep, even when it’s just the two of us at the kitchen counter working through strategy.

1️⃣ Lead with Stories, Not Stats

Data is helpful. Stories are unforgettable. Want to connect? Share something real. A win, a mistake, a lesson that cost you something, but made you better. That’s what people lean into.

Reminder: The human 🧠 brain is wired for story, not bullet points.

2️⃣ Quality > Noise

Posting every day doesn’t mean anything if it all sounds the same. You want connection? Stop posting to check a box. Start posting to spark a conversation. Ask yourself: “Would I stop scrolling to read this?” If the answer’s no, don’t publish. Rework it until it’s unmistakably yours.

3️⃣ Trust Isn’t a Metric. It’s a Feeling

According to PwC’s 2024 Trust Survey, 91% of people say they’re more likely to buy from brands they trust. But trust isn’t something you get. It’s something you earn. You earn it when you…

  • Reply to comments with intention
  • Show up consistently without chasing virality
  • Say the thing no one else is saying, even when it’s uncomfortable

That’s how you lead. And that’s how you scale. With or without AI.

Your Face Beats Any Fancy Logo

People don’t follow brands. They follow humans who know who they are, what they stand for, and who aren’t afraid to show up, unfiltered and real. That’s you. Or at least, it should be. And if you’ve been posting content that looks good but feels flat, here’s your permission slip to stop. Ditch the template. Drop the perfectionism. Lead with your damn voice, even if someone doesn’t like it or wants to rip you apart.

I recently had this happen to me, I posted a video with my POV on LinkedIn and it upset someone enough that they made a YouTube video on me 🤪 If your content is meant to spark conversation, and it should be, it’s not going to align with everyone. And that’s a good thing.

When we lead with our values and lived experiences, not hate, not noise, we create space for real dialogue. So, if someone disagrees with your perspective and shares their take in the comments or makes an entire YouTube video about you 😝… That’s not a problem. That’s the point. I’m not here to be universally liked and neither should you. I’m here to be real, lead with intention, and build a community that knows how to talk, not just scroll.

Because at the end of the day, people don’t follow perfection, they follow presence. They follow the ones who show up consistently. Who lead with their voice, not just their tools. Who aren’t afraid to be real in a world that’s becoming increasingly automated.

So, the question isn’t “How do I keep up with AI?” It’s “How do I lead with more humanity as I grow with it?”

That’s where trust lives. That’s where leadership lives. And that’s the edge no algorithm can replicate. Let’s keep building it, one real connection at a time. 👊
