ROBOTS ARE TAKING OVER! AHHHH.
Okay, people let’s be clear, AI isn’t taking over. Your job is safe. This isn’t The Matrix or HBO’s West World where literally the human looking robots take over our city.
YES, the AI which we’ve been talking about for well over a decade, is making its mainstream debut. But did you know all the companies you use on a daily basis like Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, and more have been using AI and machine learning for years?!
The difference is that OpenAI brought ChatGPT to a massive audience FOR FREE and now anybody has access to the technology for a nominal fee. This has changed perception of AI for marketers and content creators quickly.
Is Content Writing Dead?
There’s a lot of talk about ????AI and its impact on the creator economy from copywriters to graphic designers to artists and others. ChatGPT’s ability to write blogs, headlines, viral posts, and more is shockingly good. In the past, you could ignore AI outputs because they sucked, but now there’s enough data and information to make the results quite good.
Which is why everyone is asking if content writing is dead????? The short answer is no. It’s just evolving.
I echo Alex’s sentiment which is that while AI can help, it’s not a replacement for human creativity and storytelling.
Storytelling is in my blood, and I can’t find it in me at this time to believe that AI can capture the magic of true human-to-human storytelling.
Also, my good friend Geoffrey Colon recently published a fantastic article, ‘AI: Going Beyond the Beige in the Imagination Age’ on how AI is complementing human ingenuity in marketing. He thinks AI can assist with data analysis, but it’s not a substitute for empathy and understanding your audience.
I agree with Alex and Geoff. Content writing IS NOT DEAD. I believe AI is an incredible tool for research, getting ideas, building outlines, and increasing productivity. I don’t believe it’s the end of content creation because humans are evolving, and a computer can’t capture our mind and souls. It’s only as good as the data it’s fed.
Don’t be scared of AI: Use it to your Advantage
When it comes to content creation, ChatGPT, Jasper and many other AIs, are indispensable tools that can help you craft a range of high-quality content, such as blog posts, social media posts, and emails.
- Blog Posts: It can generate ideas and even write the first blog draft. Plus, it can double as your SEO sidekick by optimizing better search engine rankings. I used it to help me come up with a headline for this newsletter. I knew the content would be rich, but I wanted the headline to also to read that way too. I put a blog title idea into CoSchedule and they have a headline AI helper that made my life easier but with my help, kept it authentically me.
- Social Media: It’s amazing for generating captions and hashtags that fit your brand’s voice and tone. Just give it a few keywords and it’ll give you related hashtags to increase post reach and engagement. Plus, it creates attention-grabbing captions that you can add your human personality to.
- Email Content: It’s a great way to boost your email campaigns by generating tailored subject lines and even the first draft of your email content with information about your target audience. Remember to review and edit the content yourself for accuracy and quality.
- Event Titles and Descriptions: I used it to help me come up with a title and description for our LinkedIn Audio Event tomorrow at 1 pm CST. I made it so much quicker than usual!

Another area in which AI is incredibly helpful is with content moderation. Instead of playing a guessing game on what might offend the masses, AI can help filter through and identify potentially problematic content.

This technology is quickly becoming vital for maintaining online safety and preventing harmful content from spreading. And wow we need it!
As more people rely on social media and websites for communication and information, it’s important to ensure that online spaces are safe and secure and the only way to do this at scale quickly, is through AI.
Humans Run the World, not Robots
To sum it up, no AI is close to replacing our talents as humans. No algorithm can fully understand Rachel B. Lee because guess what, I’m evolving every day! We’re very far away from a computer outpacing the most powerful machine out there: OUR BRAINS.
The digital revolution is happening fast. Too fast for our businesses and minds to keep up with, but that doesn’t mean you need to be scared and definitely doesn’t mean you should be naïve. Why wouldn’t you want to save time, money, and energy using AI?
I’m a great writer, don’t get me wrong, but I’m 100% down for ChatGPT to write me some great headlines in 1 second than me wracking my brain for 30 minutes.
Let’s be open-minded and focus on the most important piece of this puzzle, YOUR BRAND! Because your brand is YOU and right now, AI cannot nail your voice, your tone, your emotions, your awesomeness.
