2024 is the year for LinkedIn! It’s becoming a full-fledged legal adult (if it were human, anyway 😉). Would you believe this platform has been around for 2 decades, and yet people are not taking advantage of the fact that it now has 1 billion users from over 200 countries?  

Pretty mind blown if you ask me. 🤯 If you’re still tiptoeing around whether you should level up your LinkedIn game, now’s the best time to do so.  

Here are my top 3 tips on how you can maximize your LinkedIn potential. 

 

Tip 1: Be Real Not Perfect  

Here’s the deal with LinkedIn: it’s not just a showcase of your best achievements. It’s where the genuine connection happens.   

Picture this: you meet someone who’s as interested in what you do as you are in what they do. You chat, find common ground, and bam – a relationship forms. That’s the kind of connection we’re after.  

Being real here means talking about successes and struggles. It’s about sharing insights, asking questions, and really listening to what others have to say.  When you focus on the human-to-human connection instead of just broadcasting your sales pitch, you start building a network that’s not just big—but meaningful.  

Reminder: The person you’re messaging isn’t some Pokémon you need to collect…you don’t need to “catch ‘em all” and sell stuff to them like your life depended on it.

Yes, AI is everywhere, but here’s how you use it without sounding like a robot.  

Use AI to get your ideas flowing, to find the right words that sound like you, and to make sure those words get seen by the right people. Using AI smartly means taking the heavy lifting out of brainstorming and SEO optimization.  

It’s like having a super-smart assistant who knows your audience almost as well as you do. You tell it what you’re thinking, and it helps shape those thoughts into posts, articles, or events that resonate. But remember, AI is just a tool, not a crutch.

While it’s just as tempting to churn out a bunch of content pieces based on a list of prompts you bought for $37 off the internet, I’m here to tell you that’s a sure-fire way to repel your audience. Lay off the –ick and quit copy pasting your first drafts from ChatGPT.

Always refine, review, and inject 99% of your humanity into your copy. People still want to read what actual human beings write—so give that to them.

 

Tip 3: Build Relationships by Being Intentional

LinkedIn is a powerhouse for finding new leads and establishing yourself as someone worth listening to.  How? Through engagement that matters.

Hosting a LinkedIn event? Use AI to help you pick topics that people care about, then promote your event in a way that feels personal and inviting. When people show up, engage with them. Ask questions, get feedback, and follow up. It’s about creating an experience that leaves people wanting more, making them excited to be part of your network. But it’s not just about events.

Every post, every comment, every message should be purposeful.  Use LinkedIn’s SEO to make sure your content gets in front of the right eyes. Think about what your ideal client or connection is searching for and be the one to provide it. Being intentional on LinkedIn means every action you take is a step towards building a stronger, more authentic brand that attracts the right opportunities and people.
