Alright Dopamine Fans – this week we’re going to talk about something near and dear to my heart. The difference between trying to be seen and heard as a brand and business on Facebook as opposed to LinkedIn. Here’s my top 5 reasons Facebook might not be right for your business and brand and why LinkedIn could give you a huge leg up.
Let’s get to the nitty gritty.
1. Facebook seems like “the place to be” for your business.
With more than 120 million active users, Facebook seems like a lock and key fit for your business. But there’s a huge problem with it… (a couple actually)
Sure it’s a great place to share personal stories, connect with friends and family and keep up to date on current events. But there’s so MANY businesses and so much noise it can be difficult or near impossible to break through it all and get the attention and audience you’re really looking for.

Too many companies fall into the trap of trying to use Facebook exclusively as their only social media marketing channel. And to really get the eyes on your brand and business that you want it can cost you big time.
Unless you have a huge multi-million dollar a year budget for ad-spend, Facebook can be a drain on your time, your mental energy and your pocketbook.
2. Facebook wasn’t really designed with small or medium business in mind.
Not only that, Facebook was never really designed for small businesses. It was designed as a gathering place, a place to hang out. In fact even though its algorithm has been modified over the years in more cases than not it’s actually gotten less friendly to small to medium-sized businesses. While handing the trophies to the giant advertisers using the platform.
Take into consideration some of the recent scrutiny Facebook has been under for the way it handles personal information and blocks certain accounts and posts. (Often using their AI with no real rhyme or reason involved) it’s becoming more and more difficult to navigate.
And now Facebook, the parent company has become META – which is an interesting move when you take into account the troubles Facebook is experiencing.
3. The Metaverse is coming…
Mark Zuckerberg himself that the companies focus going forward would be less on Facebook itself but on what it’s calling The Metaverse. Yeah, I don’t know exactly what that means either but I suspect it won’t help the small to medium business problems that already exist.
I’m not saying that getting off of Facebook entirely is the answer. It has a place in your business and marketing, however to truly make the gains, the connections, and the audience you deserve there is a place that’s actually focused on exactly that.
4. LinkedIn IS built for business.
LinkedIn was built for business, specifically. LinkedIn doesn’t make you pay to post and get noticed, rather it’s algorithm observes how much you participate, how much relevant information your content has and gets eyes on it who have similar interests.
5. LinkedIn has the RIGHT tools and connections!
LinkedIn is filled with decision makers at every level. Professionals looking for talent, companies who want to connect with real human beings to further their own missions and help their connections do exactly the same.
LinkedIn has tools like Newsletters, Sponsored posts, and even their powerful Sales Navigator to help boost your authority, your audience and reach. Rather than
It’s the perfect platform for small to medium sized businesses to truly connect with other entrepreneurs, find the perfect audience and ultimately the right clients. The tools that LinkedIn has in its arsenal make it much easier than almost all other platforms. Including Facebook to create those long lasting relationships that can build your brand and business to the greatness you deserve!
