In the age of algorithms, your intuition is the one advantage the internet can’t replicate. Last fall, I sat in a packed conference room, listening to a “copy this to go viral” keynote. The speaker had energy. The slides were sharp. The catchy TikTok hooks were polished. But something didn’t land.

It wasn’t that the tactics were wrong, it’s that they weren’t mine. There was no connection to purpose, no deeper why. It felt like chasing metrics for the sake of metrics. The next morning, I brought this to my team: What’s real? What’s fake? And how do we make sure the people we serve can tell the difference the second they engage with us?

I’ve managed nearly a billion in ad spend and overseen 35 trillion online impressions, and here’s what I know: the only metric that compounds over time is human connection. Humanetics calls it “human-centric design”, creating experiences that are functional, inclusive, and deeply resonant. In business, you are the product. And if you want to stand out, you have to show up with radical authenticity, not a recycled formula.

Copying someone else’s playbook is easy. But easy doesn’t lead. Your voice, your real voice, lives at the intersection of your soul and your intuition. That’s where trust begins, and that’s where your best strategy is born.

3 Ways to Test Your Leadership Alignment This Week

If you want to see how aligned you really are, try this:

  1. Audit: Where are you forcing yourself to follow “best practices” that don’t sit right? Are you posting something because it’s trendy or because it’s true to you?
  2. Observe: Catch yourself ignoring that gut feeling. What happens next? More clarity, or more frustration?
  3. Experiment: Make one decision this week purely on what feels right, not what you think you’re supposed to do.

When you stop forcing it, the right opportunities start responding. The leaders we remember, the ones who move markets, inspire loyalty, and create real change, don’t start with what to do. They start with why they do it. That’s what alignment is. It’s knowing yourself so well that every move you make is an extension of your purpose. It’s the confidence to ignore the noise, to resist the pressure to be everything to everyone, and to instead show up where you can make the greatest impact.

When you lead from that place, your strategy becomes more than a plan,  it becomes a reflection of who you are. And that’s the one thing no competitor, no algorithm, and no AI can ever duplicate. The question is: are you leading from the inside out, or letting the outside in?
