You become the trusted answer in AI search by building clear, consistent signals of who you are, what you do, and why you are credible across your digital presence. Trust is no longer earned through traffic alone, it’s earned through clarity, alignment, and repetition over time.

The way people discover, evaluate, and choose experts has fundamentally shifted. Most decisions no longer begin with scrolling through search results or clicking through multiple links. Instead, people are asking AI for answers and acting on what it suggests. Tools like ChatGPT, Google’s generative experience, and Microsoft Copilot are changing how information is surfaced, which means your visibility is now directly tied to how well these systems understand and trust you.

When a potential client asks AI, “Who should I work with?” or “Who is a trusted expert in this space?” you need to already be recognized as the answer. If you’re not, traffic on its own will not turn into influence or opportunity.

What is AEO and why is it replacing traditional SEO?

But that world is disappearing… fast. AI doesn’t browse; it assembles. It doesn’t rank content, it pulls answers, and it only recommends the people and brands it understands and trusts.

Is AI becoming the new operating system of decision making?

Yes. AI is now the primary tool people use to ask questions, make decisions, and choose who to trust. An Associated Press poll of U.S. adults in 2025 found that 60 % of Americans say they use artificial intelligence to search for information, and 74 % of those under 30 do so.

This makes AI one of the most common tools people currently use to find answers. That means your authority depends on how well you’re positioned to show up in those answers. We used to use our phones just to call and text, that was it. Basic communication. Then came the internet, then apps, then banking, then social media. Before long, our phones weren’t just tools, they became the hub of our lives, our identity, our calendar, our wallet, our connection to the world.

I now see AI is going through the exact same evolution. At first, it was just: “What’s the weather?” or “Write this caption.” Now its helping people make hiring decisions, shop products, review contracts, plan financial moves, build strategies, even decide who to trust in business.

AI is the interface for trust in 2026, and if AI is the new OS for decision making, then AEO is how you show up inside it.

We’re not just being Googled anymore, we’re being assembled, and if you’re not clear and credible, AI either fills in the blanks for you or skips you completely.

Being the trusted answer doesn’t come from volume, it comes from how well you train both humans and machines to recognize who you are, what you do, and why you’re the right choice. And LinkedIn gives you the perfect platform to do just that, if you use it intentionally.

Here are 5 ways to start showing up with authority:

Clarify your headline. Use the “I help X do Y so they can Z” formula. It’s direct, it’s searchable, and AI can read it.

Rewrite your About section in the language your clients ask AI in. If they’d type it in a question, you should say it in your profile.

Post recent, relevant content that sounds like you. Formats like PDFs, articles, and videos give both people and AI enough context to understand your expertise.

Add social proof. Media mentions, testimonials, and comments build trust with both people and AI.

Engage in the comments. Don’t just post. Show up in conversations in a genuine way. AI sees that and so does your network.

Like I always say, you don’t need any algorithm hacks. You just need to be strategic by optimizing your LinkedIn profile and sharing trustworthy content.
